Hey there! Stacy here. How do you do? Here’s a little introduction for ya before we get to my blog posts.
Artisan Creative + Media Agency invited me to share my perspective as a copywriter. Writers are storytellers. The role of a copywriter is a bit more specific, though.
As a copywriter, I see myself as an educator. My job is to educate an audience about a person, place, or thing, and then inspire them to take an action. Hire that person, go to that place, try that thing.
Since I am an educator whose job is to inspire, I wanna talk a little bit about the educators in my life that inspired me.
My love of writing comes from my elementary school English teacher, Mrs. Ackel. She made magic by transforming her classroom into a forest where we read classic British literature. Literally, floor-to-ceiling woodland wallpaper. She curated a sense of place where imagination could run wild.
Thanks to my anatomy teacher Coach Ressler, my first impulse when I pick up a spatula is to scratch my scapula. She used mnemonic devices to help us remember body parts, and was always furthering her education on the latest in teaching techniques. She was the best at knowing how to make information stick.
Speaking of sticking… writing is also hard. When I wonder when writing will get any easier, my high school cross-country coach, Coach Davis, is in my head saying, “Stacy, the race doesn’t ever feel easier. You get faster.” He knew what to stay to get me to stick with something. He always had just the right words to keep me motivated.
These educators drew on wonder, humor, wisdom, and the actual science behind learning to inspire, inform, and motivate. As a copywriter, I aim to do the same. During my residency at Artisan Creative Media Agency, please, let me know how I do.
